THE NEW BLOG IS ALMOST HERE!!!!!! Who would have known that keeping up 3 blogs would be so much work?!?! Well, frankly, I could have guessed that :) Right now, yes, I am the crazy person that has been trying to keep 3 blogs updated with all the various facets of my life. This little baby has been the hub of The Art Of Light's work (myself & Stephanie) almost since the beginning of our adventure! My first post was in March of 2006!! Since then, we've built The Art Of Light into an awesome business with amazing clients around the world and have branched out to include my work outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Of course, that merits it's own blog AND then I had to have a blog that chronicled my crazy day to day life.

So I thought, time to condense and expand in a new direction. So begins the countdown to fusion! Soon I will be all one blog and I can’t wait! This new blog is going to be focused on 3 things:

1. Showing my most recent photography work From around the world (Iowa, Tennessee, the Caribbean, wherever the camera takes me it’s all landing here!) Stephanie will also be contributing her work to the blog for shoots she does all over Iowa as well as the weddings we shoot together in Iowa and around the world! The Art Of Light is very much alive and growing and we want to showcase the work we do separately as well as the work we do together!

2. Keeping up to date on my life, Because if I abandoned my “fruit and bread” I think a few people might kill me :)

3. Offering up the true, the fun and the beautiful for my readers. Exploring the world through what interests me and my clients, who are actively involved in living life, planning the wedding of their dreams, starting families of their own and soaking up all the intricacies of our world. (This means tips, stories and experiences from some of my amazing clients and people in the industry that I love to work with, travel, art, relationships and whatever else I can dream up!)

So starts the countdown! In a few days it’s going to look a lot different around here and I can’t wait to share in this journey with everyone!

Michael / Cedar Falls Senior Photography

This was a special shoot for me. My little brother’s senior pictures. Last year I was shooting my little sister’s. And next year will be my youngest brother. Doing these shoots reminds me of how quickly life goes by. I feel like my little brothers and sister should always be little. We should still be in elementary school where I get to teach them things, boss them around and laugh at all the ways our little 4 person gang can aggravate our parents : ) Time goes by quickly and makes me a little sad, but mostly proud at what wonderful people they have become.

Michael and I are very much alike. I always joke that my parents had two sets of twins. My sister, Alyssa, and my youngest brother, Johnathan, are both jokesters, anal about little details, left handed, very spirited and very stubborn. Then there is Michael and I. We are the relaxed ones. We’re both thinkers, right handed, peacemakers and like to watch the world quietly. And then talk your ear off when you least expect it : )Special thanks to the awesome train that came through during the shoot. Love the lights of an oncoming train!

The Knot: Featured Wedding / Iowa Wedding Photographer

Why did we forget to mention this? Not sure! But the lovely Sherrie & Eric's Des Moines wedding is a featured Knot wedding! They were married at the beautiful Salisbury House in Des Moines which is an AMAZING place to get married. They were married in the garden outside of the castle as we call it with an amazing tented reception on the veranda. It has such a beautiful old world feel and is definitely one of our favorite backdrops for a wedding!

Jacob + Ashley / 7.11.09 / Cedar Falls Wedding Photographer

Jacob & Ashley got married at the beautiful Wartburg Chapel in Waverly, one of our favorite churches for weddings in the area! Followed by a great reception at the Waterloo Center for the Arts, these two had amazing friends and family surrounding them and we were honored to be a part of their gorgeous day! And the guys all wore matching Converses, bonus!
